Michael Watson, former delegate (R-Newport News), talked about the potential of offshore drilling as a way to diversify our state economy, noting that Virginia, and particularly Hampton Roads, is very dependent on the government. The first step is for Virginia to do seismic mapping to provide a clear, 3D picture of what lies out there as the current mapping is out of date.
