District Governor Update

John Padgett is the Office Managing Partner for McGuireWoods in Norfolk, an international law firm with approximately 900 lawyers. He graduated from the University of Virginia in 1980 and from the Washington & Lee School of Law in 1983, with honors. Mr. Padgett works with a wide range of clients in all stages of their corporate trajectory. His professional career focuses on international trade and transportation issues. Mr. Padgett has a depth of experience with the maritime community, terminal operations, logistics and supply chains and international transactions. He has worked on the salvage claim involving the Titanic and was involved in the development of the largest private container terminal in North America. John Padgett has been recognized by his peers and clients as one of the best transportation and corporate attorneys in Virginia and designated as a Super Lawyer in several publications. Mr. Padgett has also been active in the community. He served as Chair of the State Council of Higher Education, the Chamber of Commerce for South Hampton Roads, the YMCA of South Hampton Roads, and Vice-Chair of the Tidewater Community College.  He has also worked as an officer in the Hampton Roads Economic Development Association.  A Norfolk Rotary Club member since April 1989, John has served as President of the club and Assistant District Governor.  He is District Governor-Elect for District 7600 of Rotary International.
