How The Southeastern VA Small Business Community fell out of the top US 20 by 14 spots in 12 months

Miller fell hard for the Hampton Roads area and has become one of its biggest small business cheerleaders. As the founder of Hatch, he has positioned himself as a “chief instigator” at the center of a growing entrepreneurial movement.

Miller grew up in the Northern Virginia/D.C. metro area. He moved to Norfolk to work as a television news photographer but soon found himself drawn to the startup community. As he tells it, he saw the need for a company that could help build companies. His vision spawned Hatch, a meeting space and marketplace for new ideas, an innovative business hub and the headquarters of something he calls “Hustle City.”

Miller’s Norfolk-based company is part incubator, part educator and part aggregator of local resources for all things startup. Over the years, he has developed a handful of popular events designed to add fuel to the entrepreneurial spark.
