ARRIVAL & CHECK IN: Please note the tollbooth is not staffed until 8:45 a.m. Volunteers will not be able to access the Garden prior to 8:45 a.m.

Check in in at the front desk upon arrival. The front desk is located inside Baker Hall Visitor Center. Ask the tollbooth staff member to direct you to Baker Hall. Check in is at 9:15 a.m. The group will promptly depart for the work site(s) at 9:25 a.m.

Please be advised that this is outdoor work; dress appropriately for the weather. Close-toed shoes are required. It is also highly advised that you and your group bring water bottles, wear sunblock, hats and/or sunglasses as needed. Volunteer groups are typically placed with one of our horticulturalists and assist with work in our natural areas, such as spreading mulch, pulling weeds, cleaning plant debris such as pinecones or sticks, etc. This is outdoor, manual labor that requires frequent standing, walking, bending and stooping.  You may be provided gloves; however, you may bring your own if you prefer.

In the event of inclement weather, especially thunderstorms, your volunteer event will very likely be cancelled. Volunteer events can be rescheduled by contacting the Volunteer Coordinator. At this time, NBG is unable to provide indoor volunteer opportunities to groups larger than 10 people. Indoor opportunities are available on an as-needed basis and are not a guaranteed alternative to an outdoor event.
