Volunteers at our last Lafayette Wetlands Partnership event accomplished a great deal in a short time, installing coconut fiber (coir) logs and sand along the Lafayette River shoreline for the first phase of the Granby-Willow Wood Park Living Shoreline Project.  The work was necessary to prepare for the final project phase, the planting.

On 11 May, we complete the work begun in March by planting grasses in the wetland and high marsh, and upland plants along the Lafayette River bank.  Location: Granby/Willow Wood Park, between the Granby Street and Willow Wood Drive bridges (parking is available across Granby Street and in adjoining neighborhoods).   Gloves and boots or closed-toe shoes are recommended.

This will be a fun day, and a fitting culmination of the work begun in March.
