Trees Secret Stories - color, culture and folklore

In his presentation, Les Parks will share information about 10 great trees for Coastal Virginia that are more than just a pretty face. Not only do they have beautiful fall foliage, many of them also have interesting lore and history, and tips will be provided for getting them to thrive in your garden.

Les Parks is the Director of Horticulture at Norfolk Botanical Garden. He received his Landscape Design Certificate from The George Washington University, and became a Virginia Certified Horticulturist in 1994. Before joining the botanical garden he spent many years in retail garden centers where he enjoyed matching people with plants. He wrote the coastal report for Virginia Gardener magazine from 2013 to 2018, and he publishes two blogs: A Tidewater Gardener and A Tidewater Paddler.
