Celebrate the William A Hunton YMCA District Grant Award

The William A. Hunton YMCA is this nation's oldest, independent, historically African American YMCA. It's first executive, William A. Hunton, was the first YMCA executive of color in the United States. The Hunton YMCA plays an essential role in the community and has since 1875.

The William A. Hunton YMCA has a legacy of providing childcare, educational programs, life skills, health and wellness training, substance abuse prevention, and recreational programs to families spanning generations to include children, parents, grand-parents and even great grandparents.  The organization will continue to serve the community while major changes will unfold over the next decade.

Five Rotary Clubs partnered to submit for a Rotary International and District 7600 Grant to entirely renovate the food service capabilities of the William A. Hunton YMCA.
