Rotary Club of Norfolk - We're calling all hands on deck! We need everyone's help labeling books February 24th from 4-7 pm at the Smartmouth warehouse (1309 Raleigh Ave, Norfolk, VA 23507). Please come for as long as you can at any time during the shift. Please wear casual clothes since we'll be in the warehouse. These books will be provided free to Norfolk public school kids and we'll add a Rotary label to the book and box them in appropriate numbers to go to each Norfolk Public Elementary School.
Bring your family members, neighbors, prospective members, book group friends, and anyone who likes to read and support literacy. Working together is a great way to meet fellow Rotarians and is a great way to exemplify that we are people of action!

Educating ourselves on how to help someone having a mental health emergency is our club’s March community service project. The club is offering this training free for Rotarians and their guests. Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) training is an interactive presentation that will be given by Amy Woods with the Sarah Michelle Peterson Foundation on Wednesday, March 19 from 5 – 6:30pm at the Pretlow library meeting room (111 W Ocean View Ave, Norfolk, VA 23503). Question, Persuade, & Refer teaches the basics of preventing suicide. After this training, participants will know common warning signs of suicide and how to get help for someone having a mental health emergency. They will also become familiar with symptoms of depression and learn what resources are available for those in need. QPR saves lives by empowering educators, congregations, workplaces, and other groups to feel more confident asking about suicide, persuade someone that help is needed, and refer someone to care and support.

Join Rotarians for a tour of the Elizabeth River Project's remarkable new facility and an eye-opening exploration of how sea level rise will affect us. The Ryan Resilience Lab showcases sustainable living in flood-prone areas, and is an epicenter for environmental research, community events, and even the arts. Check out cutting edge green building practices and systems – floating docks, green roofs, solar arrays, rainwater capture, and much more. Children, family members and friends are welcome. Dress for being outdoors, and walking up and down stairs (although an elevator is available if needed). Free parking is available on Colley Avenue or on 46th - 48th Streets. The tour is free but the Elizabeth River Project will happily accept any donations. |

Join your fellow Rotarians at a celebration of the 250th birthday of the United States Army, Navy, and Marine Corps. The 2025 Virginia International Tattoo will showcase an international cast of more than 800 civilian and military performers from several nations. Returning favorites include Norway's spectacular Band and Drill Team of His Majesty the King's Guard, the rousing Massed Pipes and Drums from four nations and the nimble OzScot Australia Highland Dancers. Exciting new performers include the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) Central Band in their first trip to the United States.
At the heart of this unforgettable performance is tribute to the armed forces who have defended our freedom for 250 years. With stirring music, heartfelt tributes to those who have served, this Tattoo will remind us that as Americans, we enjoy freedoms made possible by the service and sacrifice of our fellow citizen soldiers. The Virginia International Tattoo has been presented annually since 1997. It is one of the top three tattoos in the world. We have arranged for group tickets on Friday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. at Scope in downtown Norfolk. The cost is $47 per person. Make checks payable to the Virginia Arts Festival. |
